The Vision Support Service is a team of highly experienced professionals with a specialism in working with and meeting the educational needs of visually impaired children
We offer specialist advice and support for nurseries, schools, colleges and professionals working with visually impaired children and young people.
The service is made up of a team of qualified teachers with an additional mandatory qualification in visual impairment, resource technicians and keyboard tutors with experience of providing support for children and young people who have an identified visual loss.
The Vision Support Service provides advice and support for children and young people with visual difficulties across the full (0-19) age and ability range including those with additional difficulties.
The main aims of the service are to enable schools to meet the desired outcomes for children and young people with a visual impairment. This is through raising awareness of the barriers to learning experienced by children with a visual impairment, promoting full inclusion and maximising opportunities for them to fulfil their educational potential.
The service also works closely with the Specialist ICT Assessment Service, to advise, assess, and provide training in the use of specialist technology.
